Some of the class have been learning a new skill. The knitting needles have been clicking, wool is being tangled and stitches are being dropped. But we've had great success with our knitted Xmas trees.

The Disco

Friday 4th December was the night of the year 5, 6, 7 and 8 mixed schools disco. The schools that were invited were Tomarata, Tapora, Tauhou, Wellsford, Parkiri and Mangawhai Beach. It was alot of fun. We played two games at the disco. They were Freeze (the game where you danced to the music and freezed once the music stops) and drop the hat (introduced by some girls from Wellsford school). It was great to see everyone dancing. It was so much fun!

Kids make great teachers

The new teachers survived the morning and afternoon shift started with an interesting trivia quiz. Music and movement followed with some folk dancing. The weather caused a slight change in the programme as it didn't allow the planned outside game. It was replaced with silent ball until the rain let up and then it was outside for a game of flags. There were a few people flagging so inside again for the old favourite Heads down Tails up. And so we have had our first day with the substitute teachers. Well done team- it's a tough job isn't it?

This week we have new teachers. Mr Marshall (aka Alex) ably assisted by Mr Morrow (aka Sam)are in charge this morning. Ms McDonald (aka Olivia)and Ms Stevens (aka Aimee) will take over for the afternoon session. The day started with a roll call and everyone was present. Good start to the day. Explanations for a new game followed and soon everyone was outside to trial it. The teachers quickly decided that the new game wasn't working well so they changed the plan. Good decision. If something isn't working try something different! Inside to listen to some finished research assignments. Good work Trent and Aimee. We're all looking forward to the rest of the day.

Kiwi Kick

On Monday the 23rd of November Andrew and Dean from the Australia Football League came to teach us about aussie rules. We have learned a new style of kicking and passing that will help us when playing aussie rules. We had a lot of fun and we would like to play it more often. They are running lunch time or after school programmes next year for eight weeks. The cost to play and get a bag of equipment is just forty dollars and everyone can play. Over half our class are interested in playing because it seems like a lot of fun.

Camp Bentzon

In week 2 of term 4 Rooms 1 and 6 went to Camp Bentzon. We all had a wonderful time while we were there. Through the week we were involved in some activities and a couple of walks. When we got to camp we went on a walk. On Tuesday we did 3 activities. On Wednesday we went on a trip to Mansion House. On Thursday we had our last 3 activities. Each day we were there we went swimming and fishing. Erin one of the camp supervisors told us that there was a mantaray there the size of the pontoon. Camp this year was so much fun. Also a big thanks to all the parent helpers. It wouldnt be the same without you.

On Saturday the 7th of November Tomarata School had their Guy Fawkes. It was so much fun and there were cool things to do like the Merry go around for the little kids and this big slide for everyone! Mr. McCracken did the raffle with lots of cool prizes. They had lots of good food like candy floss, chips, and sausages. It was just great!!! And as soon as it was dark the bonfire started and the winning scarecrows got burned. The best bit was the fireworks. It was great and it a nice time to relax and talk with friends. It was the best.

Camp Bentzon

Camp was awesome apart from the walk to Mansion House when Mr McCracken led us the wrong way and then I fell over and still have a scar. Mansion House was wicked. All the different rooms and the architecture were extraordinary.
The best activities were the water activities. Sailing was cool. I thought Kirsty and I were going to flip but fortunately we didn’t although Phoebe and Jo filled their boat with water and still managed to stay afloat. The raft making was really really fun. The girls made two rafts except they both failed but the boys were kind enough to let us use their raft that had succeeded. All four of the girls hopped on but then we fell off. We tried about four times but we kept falling off so we gave up but Jo still wanted to go so I decided I would go with her. So when we got quarter the way out Phoebe decided she wanted to come. She swam out and kicked at the back and then decided she was too tired so she hopped up on the raft and Mr Morrow swam out with a paddle for Phoebe. He kicked on the back when we got out to the pontoon. We all hopped on to the pontoon and swam back while the boys towed back the raft.
The confidence course was pretty cool too. There was a rope that we had to go across and there were lots lots more fun activities.

Camp Bentzon

What a great week Room 1 and Room 6 had at Camp Bentzon. After an enjoyable overseas voyage we sighted Kawau and were soon being warmly welcomed by Peter and Erin the Camp Managers. We settled ourselves in before setting off on a walk to explore the smelter house in Schoolhouse Cove. Tramping up hills and down we got to our destination ably led by Mr McCracken. After sifting through the rocks on the beach many of us discovered some copper treasure. Back at the camp the fishing rods came out and the wharf was full of swimmers and fisherman.
The food during the week was fantastic- healthy nourishing and tasty.
Over the next few days we sailed, kayaked, built bivouacs, cooked damper, went orienteering and built rafts. We spent many hours fishing with little reward. We walked to the copper mine and went through Mansion House. We tested the burma trail, went spotlighting and carried out the confidence course and fitness trail. On the last night we presented a group item outside under the trees with wekas running around our feet hunting for food.
Thanks to all the parents that helped out in many ways. Thanks to Peter and Erin for their friendly assistance with activities and providing an audience for our concert. Congratulations to all the students who were often challenged to try activities that were out of their comfort zone. We look forward to going back to Camp Bentzon again in the future.

Thanks to Steffania our new fruit trees have all been planted. We now have a selection of trees that will hopefully provide us with a variety of fruit to eat in the future. They include some apple, nectarine, plum and pear trees.

School was a hive of industry today as our costume team and students worked on our costumes to get them ready for our full dress rehearsal in Week 10. Huge thanks to Mrs Woolley and her team for organising most of the costumes. It has been a huge job to organise 130 students into costumes.

Touch/netball day

On Wednesday 9.9.09 rooms 1,3 and 6 went to touch/netball day. All classes had a good day. Unfortunately a few people hurt them selves playing netball but apart from that every one had a good fun day.A few boys played netball (like me) i thought it was a fun sport maybe I will play next year.There were also a few girls who wanted to play touch I guess they liked it? In netball we versed every team twice there were 3 teams altogether. We lost 3 games and won 3 we also bet the undefeated team (that was a thrill).

Tomarata School has started a worm farm! Thanks to Mr. Davies who kindly donated a bath tub for our worm farm to be in and Mr. Tischik for building the frame around the bath tub, we are soon going to be able to be more environmentally friendly. To make sure we do it right, we have begun researching on the internet how to make a worm farm. Our worm farm is going to be very colourful once we paint on the wooden base. Each classroom is going to get one part of the base around the bath to paint on. We all hope our worm farm is going to be as successful as the one at Rainbow Valley Farm. Hannah

water for everyone

Our class has been discussing the Water for Everyone water bottling company being run by some All Blacks. We sent a letter about water for everyone to the Rodney Times. They published it. A little later a parcel arrived in the mail. We got very nice gifts from water for everyone company- a shirt and two water bottles each. The water is very nice and the shirts are very compfortable. Its good that people who buy this product are giving 5c to charity.
Below is our letter.

Dear Editor
We have heard that three All Blacks are advertising a new bottled water company called Water for Everyone.
We think this is a great plan by them.
They are doing something good for charity because they are donating five cents per bottle to the KidsCan charity. It might be only five cents but it's better than nothing. The KidsCan charity will be very grateful.
Water for Everyone is spring water. Bottled water is easy to take around.
You can reuse the bottle and since the three All Blacks sponsor the bottlee it makes it even better. We love the All Blacks and we wan to support them.
We will definitely buy this product. We hope the charity gets a lot of money.
This is a great thing that the All Blacks are doing.

Editor: Daniel Carter, Richie McCaw and Ali Williams are backing the project but have been told by their bosses the five cents should go to community groups- not directly to official All Blacks charity KIdsCan.
That's apparently because of contractual obligations and implications the water may be seen as an All Blacks product.
The trio are reportedly shareholders in the Premium New Zealand Trading Company behind the the brand. It has its own charity, the For Everyone Charitable Foundation, so KidsCan may be able to apply to this charity for funding along with other applicants.

Bottled Water, Letter to the Editor
In our class we have been discussing the ad about the new "Water for Everyone". These ads have an All Black image, and we have been debating whether this is a good or a bad thing. Here is a letter from one of the students, we sent to the Advocate editor.

Dear Editor

If you have been watching the television recently, I’m sure you would have seen the new ads advertising a new range of bottled water. This issue has been raising conversation in our class, and we have been debating whether this is a good or bad thing. The ad boasts that this is “the water for everyone” and that “5 cents will go to a Kids Can charity”.

I think that this is not a very good thing, because there are too many bottled water brands already, filling up landfills and tricking the consumers into spending our hard earned money on water we can get from our taps for free. The war for our money is already big, and the whole “5 cents goes to charity” is a scam that many people will fall for. Personally, I reckon, if you are going to give money to a charity, at least make it a good amount.

I also think that putting the All Blacks image on the ads is a scandal. Our teacher asked seven boys in our class what bottle would they chose if every bottle was the same price and size, and all of them said they would chose the All Black brand. This is ridiculous because the All Blacks sponsor already has a brand of bottled water, and they don’t use the All Blacks as bait.

Personally, I would go for the cheaper brands, and reuse the bottles, as this is the most environmentally friendly way. But this is a matter that the consumer should decide, as it is their money to spend. In a world where brands use famous sports players to sell water, who knows what silly scandals they will come up with to try to lure us in next.

Hi Class

That's a great letter to the editor. I find it awesome that these sort of issues are getting discussed in class. Your awareness of being marketed to at such a young age, and the cynicism towards big companies marketing efforts gives hope for the future.

I am also interested in the wasteful bottled water industry and it's environmental impact and I want to do something about it. What would you guys think of a brand of bottled water where the plastic was made from plants and is bio degradeable, and where all profits, that's 100%, go to help people who don't have access clean water?

Making Lemon Honey

The Year 6's made Lemon Honey today. We used the lovely yellow unblemished lemons from Mrs B's lemon tree. We spread the honey on some toasted bread buns and agreed that it was very zesty.

On Saturday Tomarata 4 Netball team played Kiapara Flats and won 24-21. tomarata had a very interesting game. We had Joanna and Leah in the shooting position they are fantastic together they got 24 goals. That is pretty AWESOME!!!! Hannah and Kirsty were playing at the defence end I bet they saved more than 10 goals. They really were AMAZING!!!!!! We had Olivia.C. and Ally at W.D for half a game each and they played GREAT!!!! At W.A we had Beth for three quarters and Olivia.M. for quarter of a game. They did feed the circle Good!!!!! And on centre we had Olivia.M. and Briar.l. And they had a great game as did the whole team!!!!!!!!!!!

Tomarata 4's Netball Win

Standing in there positions waiting for the whistle to blow and to be on our way to victory. That's exactly what Tomarata 4 was feeling as they were standing on the newly tarsealed courts on Saturday 25th of July. The year 6 and 7 team were versing Kiapara Flats. In the past this team had beaten tomarata, but they were ready to win! The whistle blew and the players ran into the centre third. At their practice on the Thursday before, their coach had talked to the team about running into the centre third as fast as they could at a centre pass off. The team had listened hard and used what they learned in the game. After a few wrestles with the ball and many great goals, Tomarata 4 walked out of the game with a great win. The score was very close, 24 - 21. Tomarata was happy with their victory.

On Tuesday this week the year 7 & 8's of Tomarata school went to Technology. the year 7's had great fun in Wood with Mr Lovegrove. first we finished our signs from last week which was so much fun! Next Mr Lovegrove taught us how to use the saw we used to cut shapes. We all had great fun!!!!

Jamie and Rhys got into the under 13 & 11 rugby rep teams. We will be competing against teams like Monganui, Bay of Islands, Northern Wairoa, Whangarei and Opononi. Trainings are on Wednesday 5.30pm. We play on Sundays and there are 5 games.

The 40th anniversary of landing on the moon.

On 20Th of July 1969 Neil Armstrong and Edwin (Buzz) Aldrin stepped foot on the moon.
The nation wide broadcast was made directly from the moon.
The men put an American flag on the moon for the first time ever!!.
They took some dirt samples of the dirt and headed for earth.
It took them three days to do that mission and successfully land.
They were rewarded with medals and the soil was transported to a scientific lab and they are still researching it right now.

At the Matakana cinemas my Dad,Jamie and I went to see Ice age 3. We got some maltesers and three bottles of water. Ice age 3 started with that little squirel thing looking for it's nut. My favourite part of the movie was when this weasel called Buck stopped Manney and his friend from becoming dino food. It was funny when Buck used berries as bombs. After the movie when we got out it was pouring with rain and we ran to the car. It was a great day.

Our signs are up

Rodney District Council have erected our signs. Two are now in place on the corner of Whangaripo Valley Road and Wayby Valley Road and the other is on the corner of School Road and Mangawhai Road. We hope they will make a difference and that people will think twice before dropping their rubbish illegally. So far we notice that people are still dropping rubbish in black bags, well before the pick up days and there is still rubbish that could be recycled dropped as well. Keep an eye out for people that are ignoring our message. We want to look after our environment. Many thanks to Mrs Lomas who used the designs of Sam, Kristian and Eru to create our message and who worked with the class to paint them.

Over the term Mrs McCracken has been using her art skills to introduce us to a style of art work that is based on the works of a local Mangawhai artist. We followed a process of viewing the art, discussing the characteristics and then creating our own designs. We used paint and then outlined the designs with black vivids. Our work is now displayed in the corridor outside our room.

The Dare Trip

It was a bright sunny day on the 1st of July as rooms 1 and six piled out of the cars and entered the Leisure center in Whangaparoa. There was a whole lot of activities to enjoy, like basketball, javellon, darts, golf, beanbag relays, jumping mats, moonhoppers and many more. I loved the basketball because I liked shooting the hoops. I didn't like the moonhoppers much- cause I kept falling off, and landing on my butt. After lunch, we all jumped into the huge, heated pool. There were noodles, floaties, and diving boards, but I think everyones favourite was the slippery fun run obstacle course thingy. A BIG thank you to all those parents who helped transport, the leisure center, and of course Mr Watt.
I LOVED THE DARE TRIP!!!

On Friday Room 1 and Room 6 got some awesome T-shirts. We are going to the Hibiscus Coast Leisure Centre on Wednesday the first of July so we have a little uniform to put on when we go on this trip.The police man Mr Watt has been teaching us all about the good things about drugs and the bad things about drugs.He even organised the drug dog vist. Plus he was the one how is donig this trip for us and he gave us The T-shirt.

Our Visit From Vince Ford

Tuesday 23rd of May was the exciting day that Vince Ford,the Author of 'Somuch2do' and many more awesome books, came into Tomarata School to talk to the hole school about his job, Being an author. We learnt that you can achieve anything by putting your mind to it and sticking with it the whole way. The first story Vince Ford wrote was when he was seven years old. He wrote about two boys going fishing when the tide was getting higher and higher. Eventualy, they climbed up onto a big cliff, while tying to escape the tide. They kept fishing until they wanted to get down. To get down, they called a helicopter to fetch them off the cliff. It was azmazing to see that a famous, New Zealand author went to a small school, just like Tomarata! You never know, some of the students at Tomarata School, May even turn out to be authors, just like Mr Ford. He told us where the ideas for some of his storys came from. One of them was inspired by him accidently burning down a truck! We loved having the amazing Vince Ford come in to talk to us and wish him the best of luck with his next books.

Dare Presentation

Rooms 1, 6 and a few of our parents all gathered in room 6 ready for the 2009 Dare presentation. We had learnt a lot with Mr Watt and were ready to share it. We prepared a few plays, a couple of songs and even a HUGE cigarette which showed us exactly the poisons that were inside one tiny cigarette. After room 6 had their chance to share their own ideas, it was time for room 1. As soon as the presentation had finished, Mr Watt and Mrs Salt handed out the certificates for the people who completed the Dare Programme in room 1. A few minutes passed and soon all the certificates for room 1 were handed out. Then Mr McNaughton came up to the front and handed out all the certificates for room 6. Soon after, we all had a certificate to show our parents. Mr Watt explained to us what was going to happen with the T-Shirts he kindly donated to us and then told us of a trip we were going to go on at the end of the term! We are all very excited. I'm sure it will be a great trip just like the rest of the Dare programme.

The seniors in our school have been writing speeches in the last 2 weeks. Our topics were "I.C.T friend our foe", "A Day to remember" or we could choose our own topic. The finalists from each class were chosen and they presented their speeches to the senior syndicate. The finalists from Room 1 for the Year 5/6's were Olivia, Sam and Denim. The finalists for Yr 7/8 were Kristian, Trent, Aimee and Hannah. Sam, Aimee and Kristian will represent our school next week at Wellsford. They will compete against the other schools in our cluster.

We were fortunate to host two Rodney College leaders today who spoke to us about their roles as Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl. They gave us some very good advice about making the most of the opportunities given to us. They gave clear examples of how our attitudes towards school and other people make a difference to how we are perceived by others. They also stressed the importance of making good choices about our friendships. Thank you Darren and Megan and thank you Mr Watt for organising the visit.

Year seven and eights go to manual every Tuesday.

This time they took boots to manual and planted some plants in them.

They said they loved getting muddy but hated cleaning up!

The year 7 kids had another session in art due to the fact that the horticulture teacher was away again. The year 7 kids made herb garden pots. They first had to get all the air out of the clay by banging it on the table. Next they flattened out the clay and cut out a teardrop shape. After that they used the remaining clay to make a pocket shape and mold it onto the teardrop shape. The final thing was to place newspaper into the pocket and add some decorative patterns to add some finishing touches to the pot. They then put it in to the kiln room.

The Dare Programme

This term Room 1 is participating in the dare programme. It is a programme where we can learn strategies to use that will help us make good choices about drug and alcohol use. Mr Watt has introduced the programme to us and he will be coming regularly to help us. We are learning about what types of drugs there are also about what drugs are legal and what ones aren't. We are going to learn alot from this and it will be very interesting at the same time.

Jake & Josh, Two guys who are lifesavers! No really!! They work at Red Beach saving the lives of many swimmers. Today they came into Tomarata School to tell us about their job and how rewarding it is to save someones life.
Some of the rules they told us about safely swimming at the beach were:

Never swim alone
Swim between the flags
Learn to identify a rip
Use the right swimming equipment
Never swim when tired or cold

They also dressed a student in a lifeguard uniform and she had to pretend to save another student from a rip! We had so much fun having them here and we hope they will return to our school in the future.

On Wednesday our school went to athletics to represent Tomarata School. We did ...sprints,high jump,long jump,discus and shot put. I enjoyed discus the most but everything else was fun too.

Our gardens are growing

As you may already know our school has been making class gardens. The plants have been growing rapidly over the past weeks of the term. Some classes have been adding little extras to their classrooms gardens like a butterfly and some windmills. We have been putting egg shells and coffee grounds on our garden to keep the snails and slugs away.

Healthy Eating

Our class have been investigating healthy eating. We have looked at packaged lunch items to see if they got the healthy food tick by checking the amount of sugar, fat and sodium in each serving as well as the kilojoules. We have discussed what sort of foods are good.
Last week the Yr 6's made Apple Scones this is how we made them.
Apple Scones

Ingredients: Wholemeal Flour, White Flour, Grated apple, Cinnamon, Sugar, Margarine and Milk.

Method:

Step 1. Put 1 cup of White flour and 2 cups of Wholemeal flour into a bowl.

Step 2. Rub 2 tablespoons of butter into the flour then add 2 tablespoons of Sugar.

Step 3. Make a well in the middle and add 1 cup of milk and 1 grated apple.

Step 4. Mix together until it is doughy then place mixture onto a floured board the knead lightly.

Step 5. Press out to form a square or rectangle then cut into even sized squares.

Step 6. Place on a baking tray then bake at 220 for 10 minutes.

After we had finished cooking them we had one each and gave the rest to the teachers.

This is what the Yr 6's said about them.

Ally: They were yuck.

Denim: They were alright.

Eru: They were yum with margarine.

Congratulations to the 30 students who challenged themselves to swim 200 metres at the lake as part of the Swim for Life water safety challenge this year. The water was pleasantly warm but pretty choppy with a reasonably strong wind pushing the water into our faces as we ventured out to the buoys that were our distance markers. What a great achievement with everyone who started out getting home safely. Many many thanks to the parents who supported us by swimming or manning the kayaks or providing transport.

Superb effort! The weather on the day made it even more of a challenge, so I am very proud of the positive way that way you approached the swim.

Our trip to Whangateau Harbour

On Wednesday 9th March rooms 1, 3, and 6 went on a trip to Whangateau harbour. We had a visit to a marine scientist, Roger Grace. He told us about the sea life in Whangateau harbour and some interesting things that most of us didn't know.

This year our school has built a raised garden. It has been so succseful that each class has their own spot. In our garden we have lettuce, marigolds, beetroot, carrots and red onions. Thank you to those people who have helped out with the edible garden.

Fun at Whangateau

SCREECH!!!
The bus slowed down as it came over the hill, before coming to a halt at the bottom. The children raced out the doors like a stampede of elephants, and headed towards the Whangateau estuary. I paused to look at the beautiful scene around me. I could smell the salty water even from a distance, and I could hear the whisper of the wind in the trees.

I made my way to where the other kids were gathered around Mr Grace, the marine biologist who would guide us around Horseshoe Island. We split into two groups, and our group made our way towards the little island in the distance. My feet sank into the mud, like little people slipping into quicksand.

We stopped to look at the holes made by eagle rays that had chosen to feed off the cockles. They were now full of water- and made perfect puddles for jumping in! The mangrove trees we saw, towered high over us, as the little oysters clung to their branches, like a baby monkey clinging to its mother. The plants had long, fragile branches, and leaves as green as grass.

I headed back to the mainland with the rest of my group, water dripping from my clothes like I was a tap. I had learnt so much today about water-life, I felt like a marine biology book! As I boarded the bus again, I took one last look at this beautiful place, before the bus started up, and crawled over the hill again.

Our edible garden

We planted orange and green marigold that stand out in the sun.Our lettuce are green and some are red. We just planted them today. Our chives are long strips that are green. Hopefully we will be able to eat them when they mature.

The Gladwrap Challenge

Our class has carried out a survey to find out how many students use gladwrap in their lunches. A huge majority do. A small minority use alternatives like small reusable plastic containers and lunch roll paper instead.
Gladwrap is a huge problem at school. It makes up a lot of of rubbish, especially the rubbish that ends up flying around in our grounds. We know a lot of it finds its way into the paddocks of the farm next door. This must be a concern for Mr Mason as it is possible his cows may eat it.
Gladwrap takes a long time to break down- 1000 years. We really want to influence people to use alternatives. This is our challenge to everyone at school. In two weeks time we will do another survey to see if we have made a difference.
Please help us to achieve our goal.

We have discussed how we can have a harmonious classroom environment this year and we have made a classrom treaty to refer to. It states our rights and responsibilities. Each member of the class has signed it and we will refer to the treaty when we need to.

There are 8 slides- the kids chute,short and sharp,bobs mistake,squeeze,gutbuster,
black hole,double slide and the twister. My favourite was the black hole.

Yesterday 9/12/08 Room 1 and 6 went to Waiwera hot pools for a end of the year trip. We went on slides like Short and Sharp, Bob's mistake, Gutbuster, Blackhole, Speed Slide and The Twister. We all enjoyed swimming in the big pools. We had an awesome day and thanks to all the parents that helped.

On Thursday the 9th of December room1 and room6 went to Waiwera hot pools. Every one really enjoyed it. There were 9 awesome pools to play in. There were heaps of slides to play on. I didn't bang my head once. It was a really fun day.

On Tuesday 9th of December Rooms 1 and 6 from Tomarata School had a trip to Waiwera hot pools. The pools were all heated except for the children's pool. We departed from school at 9.00am and left the hot pools at 1.40. Waiwera is 5 mins from Orewa. Many other schools came to Waiwera as well. The slides were a big hit for people that were interested. There's a moive pool, an adults pool,a lava pool(45 degres)and other pools that people can enjoy.

On Monday the 8th of December Daniel,Trent,Jamie,Rhys,Joanna,Aimee,Briar, Sarah and I
went to Warkworth to play in a cricket tournament. We won our first game by 34 runs.
We won are second game by 6 runs and we lost the third by 2 runs but we still made the final because other teams also lost a game. In the final we lost by 13 runs so we came second.

Trip to Waiwera

On Tuesday, 9th December we went to waiwera. It was fun. There were lots of pools like:

The Selby pool

The Seal pool

The movie pool

The opal pool ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' 'The selby pool and the seal pool

The Sapphire pool

The lava pool

and the kids pool

My favorite pool was probably the selby pool because it was big and only warm, it wasn't cold or hot it was just warm. It also had a Shallow side and a deep side but the only bad thing was all these older people that kept pushing each other into the pool. One of them mistook me and pushed me in too.

Then there was the seal pool. The seal pool was just a smaller version of the selby pool but it didn't have a shallow side or a deep side. It was sort of half way. It was about 3 or 4 ○C warmer. It was next to the selby pool.

The movie pool was about 6○C warmer then the seal pool and about 10○C hotter then the 27○C selby pool. It was called the movie pool because there was a HUGE Tv in there. It had Mini waterfalls coming off into a pool above it that had another 2 waterfalls going down into the movie pool.

I dont know much about the opal pool because kids wern't alowed in it. But the sapphire pool was about 40 -45○C! It was undercover as was the movie pool. I didn't go in it much though. And then there was the Lava pool. I probably spent more time in the opal pool then in the lava pool because it was a hot 50○C! (I did go in the opal pool for a while and then I realised it was Adults only. I don't see why, it wasn't that hot.)

The Kids pool was shallow and cold. Like it was Actually cold. It wasn't warmed up or anything. It had a frog waterslide and 2 fountain things that squirted out cold water.

Overall I enjoyed it and would like to go again sometime.

On Wednesday the Year 4 to Year 8 students went to Centennial Park to play cricket. Tomarata had nine teams. The other schools that were there were Pakiri, Tauhoa, Mangawhai, Tapora and Living Way. It was really fun but the bad thing was that it was really hot.

Yesterday we had a cricket day. Our school had 9 teams. It was held at Centennial park in Wellsford. There were 4 games. They were 1 hour each. Cricket was fun. My team, Tomarata 3 won 3 of 4 games. Charles's team Tomarata 4 won none of its games unfortunately. The day was successful and really, really hot.
